There are three main craft home party styles - click on each one to find out more about it: Obviously if your craft involves expensive, heavy tools or is very painstaking and time consuming, then it's not going to be suitable for a mini workshop. But it may be perfect for an open house. Use your common sense to decide what's best for you. You can also mix and match these different styles to suit you and your craft, for example having a small introduction or presentation at the beginning of a party then leaving the guests free to browse as at a craft home show. Or if you have a friend to help you out you can offer mini workshops in one room while guests can browse your crafts in another. It's a great idea to attend (or sometimes even host) lots of home parties held by various party plan companies. You'll pick up plenty of ideas from them and also get a good feel for the different styles. And as the consultants/agents get lots of coaching and help, pick their brains about how they get new bookings. Then decide what will work for you and what won't. It's all about finding an approach that suits you!
