There are two really easy ways to find your first home party hostess:

1. Be your own hostess

Just invite all your friends and acquaintances to your own home and have your first party there. Take a look at these 8 Great Excuses to Have a Home Party.

The advantages of this are that you get to practise setting up your display somewhere you’re familiar with first, and you will also get to see things from your future hostesses’ point of view.

A disadvantage is that in addition to doing the party, you will also be the one serving your guests drinks, so it’s a bit of a juggling act – perhaps see if you can get a close friend to help out.

2. Persuade a friend or relative to be your first home party hostess

If you’re lucky enough to have a friend who will host a party for you, it’s a great way to get started.

She’ll generally be more understanding than a stranger would, so you can find your feet without too much pressure. Chances are she’ll also be a great ambassador for you, telling all the guests what fabulous hostess gifts and discounts she’s getting and raving about your crafts.

(I suppose there is a third option - advertising for parties locally – but this is a really scary way to get started as the pressure really will be on you to do a brilliant job first time round. So leave this as an option for later on, once you know what you’re doing.)
