Growing Your
Home Based Craft Business

This section is for those of you who want to grow your home based craft business further, and turn it into a serious income.

For Jewelry Makers!

Take a look at Lorri Ely's new ebook

How to Run a Home Based Jewelry Party Business for Fun and Profit

It's a really fantastic resource for those of you who want to sell your jewelry at parties. She covers absolutely everything you need to know: the legal and tax side of things, planning your business, how to have great parties, and more.

There is LOADS of useful information - I'm thrilled with my copy and know I'll be using it again and again! It's a very worthwhile investment for your business.

Hopefully by now you've had a go at selling your crafts at home parties, and you're excited about how well you've done.

The beauty of a home party business is that you can make as much or as little of it as you like – it all depends on how much money you want to make, and how much effort you're prepared to put in.

To grow your new home based craft business you need to get as many people wanting to book parties as possible – too many is best, you can always have a waiting list!

Just a little warning though, don't actually schedule more bookings than you can handle – remember you have to make your crafts as well as sell them.

Here are some of the main ways you can make sure you have enough home parties booked:

Get repeat bookings
This is the nicest way to get more bookings – it shows that your hostesses were happy the first time round and want to do it again. Sometimes you'll get repeat bookings without having to do anything at all, but it's more likely that you'll have to make some effort to get that result. Take a look here for ideas on how to get your hostesses to book again.

Follow up on potential hostess leads
New bookings are also important to growing your home based craft business. If you followed my advice on getting more bookings at a party by doing a prize draw survey, you'll hopefully have a nice list of potential hostesses to contact. Read here for tips on following up with them as well as Dealing With Party Cancellations

Local advertising
One of your best 'business growers' is word of mouth advertising, so make sure you tell everyone what you do, and carry business cards with you at all times. But traditional advertising has its place too, and can increase those all important bookings. Read here to find out more about local advertising for your home based craft business.

Your own home based party plan business
Once you're established and successful at home craft parties, why not create your own home based party plan business to generate even more income for you!
