I have to thank my hairdresser for this idea! When she found out that I sell jewellery at home parties she asked me whether I would consider doing a party at her salon, for her staff. The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea! Especially in the lead up to Christmas, a lot of local businesses are very busy, so being able to browse at work for gifts is very appealing. Offering to do customer orders also gives them the opportunity to give someone an extra special and personal gift, without having to leave the office. Make sure you also have plenty of inventory to sell there and then, though, as this will probably form the bulk of your sales. As different staff members will take their breaks at different times, have your display laid out for 2-3 hours to give everyone a chance to browse. You can probably forgo the hostess incentives for businesses, but a small gift for the person who let you set up your craft selling party would be a nice token. If the party is held somewhere where they may need to raise money (e.g. schools) then you can run it like a
fundraising home party.
Here are some suggestions for local businesses that would provide a good home party opportunity:
You get the idea... anywhere that has more than just a few staff is suitable. Just make sure you get permission from the right person to avoid any awkward situations (I was lucky that my hairdresser is also the owner!) I hope you find a way to make the most of this great opportunity. Good luck! |
